By the time Smith & Robertson became acquainted with Timberpeg in the 1980s, they were experienced mortise-and-tenon builders, familiar with both the handcrafted look of timber frame homes and the precision such handcrafting required.

"We were already building like that," Ron Smith recalls. "And we had an affinity for it." Discovering a company that was designing, engineering, and manufacturing post-and-beam structures of such quality was an eye-opener. "Timberpeg allows us to streamline post and beam and designed construction without sacrificing craftsmanship."

That high quality is what led Smith & Robertson to become Central Virginia's Timberpeg Independent Representative. "It's the authenticity that resonates with people," Glenn Robertson says. "The design, the materials, the joinery, every little detail. We are truly proud to be representing a product of this quality."

The builders have a ready-made showplace in the home of Glenn Robertson and his wife Laura, who chose to build a Timberpeg home a few years back. "We're happy to open it to clients who are thinking about this option," Robertson says. "They have a chance to see both Timberpeg's warmth and beauty and the quality and the flexibility this product offers."

Over the years, past Smith & Robertson Timberpeg clients have welcomed prospective clients into their homes as a way of helping with the decision-making process. Out of those initial meetings, friendships have developed, resulting in an informal Timberpeg club. "We like the people who build post and beam," says Karen Lansing, who with her husband, Jim, built a Timberpeg in 1999.

Because Timberpeg offers a modular design and engineering system, it offers all the flexibility of a design/build. "It goes beyond options," says Robertson. "Timberpeg houses are totally customizable for your site, your budget, and your lifestyle."
